"You pick the location. We totally trust you."
And with those words, I was officially stoked about Courtney and Jon's engagement shoot.
Courtney and Jon are some of the most laid back and relaxed people I've ever met, and it's always music to a photographer's ears when I have a client say that they trust my creativity and let me take control. So, for their engagement session, we headed down to the central west end. i've been wanting to do a session there FOR EV ER, but Courtney and Jon were the first to accept the offer :). I think that the location is pretty much exploding with awesomeness, and well, it doesn't hurt that Courtney and Jon are quite easy on the eyes :).
Can you find me in this pic?
Now get ready for some wicked-awesome sunflare...
Courtney and Jon, you guys rocked it! Can't wait for your wedding later this summer!

Kate, Steve, and a dodged rainstorm
Even though the radar had dark green and orange filling the area, we trekked on to Washington, Mo., to meet Kate and Steve. Amidst the threatening rain, we drove down the winding roads to the vineyards nestled in the quaint Missouri town, and much to our dismay, it started to pour before we reached our destination. Kate and I talked on the phone several times, wondering if this shoot was really going to happen, but as we pulled into the parking lot along the river road, the last drop of rain fell, the clouds parted, and the sun actually peeked out. Oh, and a damp, humid fog covered the area like a blanket. Lovely Missouri weather indeed.
Because Kate is out of the St. Louis area for grad school, we decided to meet in Washington, Mo. for their engagement shoot, and because finding a time to meet was a small miracle, we WERE going to make this shoot happen, rain or shine. And luckily, it was a lot more shine than rain once we got started. See?
I think they are just the cutest! Can't wait for their wedding in a few weeks!
And of course, as luck would have it, once the shoot ended and we hit the road, the skies unleashed their furry once again and lightening surrounded us all the back to St. Louis :). See you soon, Kate and Steve!

Robyn and Chad tie the knot
When I told Jon we were going to Mexico to shoot Robyn and Chad's wedding, I could see visions of sombreros and margaritas dancing in his head. I chuckled a little and nudged him from his taco-filled daydream.
Chad and Robyn both grew up in Mexico, MO, and even though they now reside in St. Louis, they said their vows in their hometown in front of all their family and friends. We do a lot of shooting around the St. Louis area, and I must say, it was nice to get out of town just a little for a wedding in a smaller town.
We began the day at a local hair salon where this cutie entertained me with a variety of expressions. This was a wedding with super-cute kids. Exhibit A....
Then it was off to the make-up artist
meanwhile, chad and the guys got ready at a friend's house
Exhibit B (totally adorable)...
Exhibit C...
Beautiful flowers
And a beautiful bride
Just moments before she walked down the aisle
After the ceremony, we headed to a park in Centralia for some portraits
I love this one of Robyn and Chad
super-fun wedding party
Robyn has the BEST eyelashes, and I just couldn't take enough photos that showed them off
the reception was a great party. full of excitement
and emotion
and pianos. Chad works at the Big Bang, so he called a few of the musicians and had live dueling pianos all night long. We seriously did not want to leave it was so fun. Jon snagged this shot of this little gal having some fun too :)
Robyn and Chad, thanks so much for sharing your day with us! We'll see you soon at the Big Bang.
Adios :)
