class of 2009 :: John

John and I took a trip to downtown Clayton earlier this fall so I could take some photos commemorating his senior year of college. I wish more people would have their photos taken during events like this. I mean, of course taking senior pics when you graduate from high school is important, but graduating from college is just as important, if not more :). It marks the beginning of something very exciting :). Here are a few of my faves...

Natalie :: Class of 08

When I was talking with Natalie and her mom about a location for her senior photos, one of them mentioned that Castlewood State Park would be a great place for photos. Since I'm always up for shooting at new places, I was pumped to visit Castlewood for the shoot. I, however, did not pick the best choice clothing or footwear. My cute little kitten-heeled sandals did not do very well coming down this hill:

But it really didn't matter about my choice of shoes once we got started because I don't think I've had a shoot where the sun looked more brilliant. And Natalie pretty much rocked it. Don't you agree?

Take a look at that gorgeous light!

Natalie watches a lot of America's Next Top Model, so she had these seriously, pensive poses down :).

I LOVED LOVED LOVED shooting these photos! In addition to the amazing light and rockin subject, this was one of the first sessions I shot after I upgraded all my gear to Canon, which was a great decision :). Best of luck to you, Natalie, as you embark on this new adventure!

I think she totally looks like Kate Winslet here.

My fav. Amy is the woman. She hiked across this perilous hill in heels. Yep, she's the woman :).

Brian '08

A while back, Brian met my husband and I at Lafayette Square Park for his senior photos. We've know Brian for years through church... when he was just starting high school, he was helping run the sound for the youth band, which I was helping out with at the time. He used to make fun of my shoes :). I have to agree though, ugh, I went through a spell of bad choices in foot attire.
And now on to the photos!

Gotta love a guy who sports a tie for his senior pics. Yeah, he pretty much rocked it.

I seem to be posting a lot of pics lately of clients sitting in the middle of the road. I love love love how the shots turn out, but while I'm shooting, my trusty assistant always has his eye on the road, making sure no cars are coming. Safety first ;).

Jackie '08

We met up with Jackie at Lafeyette Square park the other day for some really fun senior photos. It was really overcast and looked like it might rain, but fortunately, it held off for us :). We spent some time walking around the square and the park. We got some really cool shots because of all the unique locations within walking distance... and well, I guess it helped that I had such a great model! Here are a few of my favs from the shoot:

Headshots are my new favorite thing! I got a new 85mm this summer and I am loving it!

This alley has the best light of almost any place I've shot. It was really cloudy at this point in the shoot, but the alley had some amazing light.

And here's Jackie looking like a supermodel.

Doesn't she have amazing eyes?

Not only is Jackie super sweet, but she also plays the electric guitar. How cool is that?

This was such a great photo shoot! Not only is Jackie totally photogenic and sweet, but her parents are so cool! While we were shooting her photos, they were having dinner and exploring Lafeyette Square. They came across a great little coffee house called Park Avenue Coffee. I had seen it before, but I had no idea that they had opened up a patio in the back. It was so cool because as it started to get darker, this
